An ideation camp under the title “Maker Workshop” was organized on the 7th of February, 2018, open to all the students of the college. About thirty students took part in the event, wherein they were taught and implemented techniques to rapidly generate ideas and incorporate their initial stages.
Women of Wonders (WoW), the women empowerment wing of IEDC MESCE, conducted a short ice-breaking session for its newly inducted members on the 23rd of January. The students interacted with each other in fun minigames and shared their experiences as members of a diverse community.
A mobile-app creation workshop was organized on the 17th of January. Mr Abdul Kareem, of S8 ECE, headed the event, which saw twenty students create their first apps within the span of two hours, using the online tool, App Inventor, developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
IEDC MESCE, in association with Department of Computer Science and Engineering, conducted a talk on “Ethical Hacking” on the 11th of January. The audience was enlightened on topics such as social media phishing attacks, and the spread of spam and viruses on the internet, and countermeasures against the same.
IEDC MESCE, in association with with FabLab MESCE, organized a two day Fabrication Workshop for Fifth Semester Students on the 4th and 5th of November, 2017. 30 students across all branches took part in the same, and were equipped with knowledge on how to utilize the equipment of the FabLab to the fullest.
The inauguration of Women of Wonders, the Women’s Entrepreneurship Wing of IEDC MESCE, was held on 26th October, 2017, at the CSE Seminar Hall. Ms. Sanah Khader, renowned blogger and entrepreneur, shared her experiences with the volunteers.
Pavan Joseph, Shadil Roshan, Rishikesh, Muhammed Arshad (all from ME) and Anas Aji Muhammed (IT), S2 students, participated in Startup i3, organized by KSUM in association with OpenFuel, at Ernad Technology City, Manjeri.   
IEDC MESCE, in association with Kerala Startup Mission and INCAETEK organized a two-day workshop on Product Design and Development on the 21st and 22nd October, 2017, for third year mechanical students. Selected students were given hands on-training in a variety of aspects including CAD Design and Prototyping by 3D Printing.
The Idea Pitching Competition spanning three months came to a close on the 31st of January, with a valedictory ceremony for the winners. Members of the managing committee graced the event with their presence, and lauded the efforts of the IEDC in bringing forth innovative ideas and projects from the students.
